Save the Date FBThe UAB Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the UAB National Alumni Society, announced that its 2018 Homecoming football game will be played on October 20, 2018 against North Texas at Legion Field.

Kickoff for the 2018 Homecoming game will be 6:30 p.m.

“Having our Homecoming game against the reigning West Division champions will make for an electric atmosphere at Legion Field,” head coach Bill Clark said. “Last year’s Homecoming game was one of the most memorable games I have ever been a part of and we look forward to recreating a scene like that again this year.”

UAB and North Texas will be meeting on the gridiron for the fourth time in program history and this is the second-straight year the Blazers will host the reigning C-USA West Division champs for their Homecoming game. Last season, UAB defeated Louisiana Tech in dramatic fashion on Homecoming with a blocked field goal as time expired to preserve a 23-22 victory. Those heroics proved critical in UAB maintaining an undefeated record at home and helped the Blazers finish the season with a perfect 6-0 mark in Birmingham.

Homecoming is a weeklong celebration of the UAB experience that is filled with events to display Blazer spirit and pride. The first Homecoming was celebrated at UAB during the 1979 Men's Basketball season and was held in the winter. In 1994, Homecoming transitioned to fall to be held during the football season. That year, two Homecomings were held, one in January and the other in October. Since then, Homecoming has been has been celebrated during the fall semester.

Each homecoming, the UAB National Alumni Society, along with the rest of the UAB community, hosts events throughout the week. Homecoming is an amazing opportunity to connect with UAB alumni, students, faculty, staff and Blazer fans.
