What is your favorite UAB memory? Friday evening pot luck dinners with classmates after a long week of studying.

How has UAB impacted your life? The education I received at UAB prepared me for a successful career that I still enjoy today.

What made you choose your current profession? High School job fair piqued my interest, after a little research, I made that my goal.

What lessons has your professional life taught you? If you focus on serving your patients and supporting your staff, then success will follow.  

What would you do if you were given more time in each day?  Obviously, spend more time with my family. In a flash, my children have grown up. 

What invention have you seen in your lifetime that you believe has been the most important? The internet. Thank you VP Gore.

If you could have 3 wishes, what would they be?  Win my race for district 43 on June 3rd , Alabama and UAB playing for next year’s national football championship, Repeal of Obamacare- you said wishes J

If you could go back to any age…which age and why? I would not go back, I know how that turned out. I want to stay where every day is a new adventure

Which historical figure do you most identify with and why?  Benjamin Franklin, we both get a lot of mileage with bifocals.

If you had the power to solve one, and only one, problem in the world…what would it be and why?  World hunger.

What natural gift would you most like to possess? The gift of communication.

What trait(s) do you most value in your friends?  Loyalty.

Who would you want to portray you in a film about your life?  Tin Conway with a toupee.

What is your motto? It used to be “be young, be foolish, but be happy” now I settle for “be happy”.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?  There are two things you should choose wisely, your spouse and your profession.

If you could start a charity or non-profit organization, what would it be and why? An educational trust fund, what better thing to give than knowledge.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Having had the opportunity to travel extensively already, almost 60 countries so far, a good many bucket list places have already been checked off. One I am planning on visiting in August is the Galapagos Islands- it has always fascinated me.

What is something you are proud of and why? Of course, my daughters. They amaze me every day.

What is the last book you read?  Interesting book on American society from 1960-2010 called Coming Apart by Charles Murray.

What things do you not like to do?  My taxes and clean bathrooms.

Where would you go in a time machine?  I would go to June 4th in Shelby County to see if all the campaign work was worth it.

What three items would you take to a desert island other than food and water? Castaways Bible, AKA, The Swiss Family Robinson; a satellite phone; and a soccer ball named Wilson.

Why did you choose to attend UAB?  UABSO is one of the best optometry schools in the country.  I didn’t consider any other schools!

Who is the best professor that you have had at UAB so far and why?  I could never pick just one.  They all have their strengths and are dedicated to helping us learn and grow as clinicians.

How has UAB impacted your life? UAB has given me the knowledge and tools to be a successful optometrist one day.

What is your current state of mind?  Content.

What do you do for fun?  I’m happiest when I’m visiting friends, trying out a new restaurant in town, and relaxing at the beach with my family.

Who are your heroes?  I admire all the smart and courageous women throughout history who have paved the way for young professional women today.

If you were given more time in each day, what would you do?  I would exercise every day.  Fresh air and exercise are the best stress relievers.  

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?  I wish I could see into the future.

What is the best invention of your lifetime and why?  The internet.  It has revolutionized the way we research, exchange information, communicate, and buy and sell goods.

What are your future goals?  To be fantastic optometrist!

What would be your ultimate dream job?  I would love to see the world and write travel books for a living.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?  Kate Middleton. 

What 3 items would you take to a desert island other than food and water?  Two long books and a flare. 

If you had the power to solve one, and only one, problem in the world, what would it be and why?  I would ensure that children across the world had access to necessary health care, because everyone deserves the opportunity to live a long healthy life.
