What is your favorite UAB memory?  Basketball games and hanging out at the Baptist Student Center.

How has UAB impacted your life?  1. Great quality education 2. Met my wife there 3. Received a Kidney/Pancreas Transplant from UAB in Nov, 2002.

What made you choose your current profession?  Ability to motivate and have an impact on employees in the organization that I work for.  I firmly believe that every one should have a personal and professional mentor in their life.

What would you do if you were given more time in each day?  Continue to volunteer and serve others.

What invention have you seen in your lifetime that you believe has been the most important?  Computer and the iPhone.  Hard to imagine what we did before them.  Love to stay connected.

If you could go back to any age…which age and why?  College of course.  Was a great time of growing and learning about life.  Seems like the whole world is before you.

Which historical figure do you most identify with and why?  Abraham Lincoln.  His ability to heal a divided nation is an inspiration to me as a HR professional.  I usually get involved in issues and try to work to make sure everyone is looking at both sides and how best to resolve the issue and work together.

If you had the power to solve one, and only one, problem in the world…what would it be and why?  Easy one...Hunger. It hurts to see so many around the world go without a good meal every day. We are a blessed nation.

What natural gift would you most like to possess?  To be a better runner. This would lead to being more fit and a healthier lifestyle

What trait(s) do you most value in your friends?  Honesty, trust, confidence and a sense of wit about them.

Who would you want to portray you in a film about your life?  Would have to say Kirk Cameron.  I have always liked his personality, values, character and his likability along with his commitment to his faith.  Hope people would think the same about myself?

What is your motto?  Since I am a former Eagle Scout…"Be Prepared”.  A lot easier to handle issues in life with a little bit of knowledge.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received?  Learn to be happy and content with whom and where you are, but be willing to reach for new goals and remain in a state of life-long learning.  The AHS allowed me to continue my education to receive a Masters in Human Resources as well as the “PHR-professional in Human resources” designation.

If you could start a charity or non-profit organization, what would it be and why?   Because I love the outdoors and kids learn so much by being outdoors, I would love to start a charity that allows kids the opportunity to experience a summer resident camp.  The memories that I have as a youth and now my kids have created wonderful memories that we all can share with each other.

Why did you choose to attend UAB?  I chose to attend UAB because it’s the school I’ve always wanted to attend. My dad is an alum of the School of Business and has had season tickets to UAB basketball and football since the programs started so I’ve been coming to games with him since I was a little kid.

Who is the best professor that you have had at UAB so far and why?  The best professor I’ve had is a tough one. I’ll go with Professor Turpin because of the amount I learned in his class. The class was difficult and he was very demanding, but I think that pays off in learning the material. Plus he’s like a walking encyclopedia so you could always bounce questions off of him.

What is your favorite UAB memory?  My favorite athletics memory is when UAB beat Southern Miss for the 1st time football my freshman. That was an awesome time. My favorite general memory has just been all the friends I’ve made here in college and hanging out with them.

What is your current state of mind?  I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunities I’ve received in my life and I want to continue to work towards achieving everything I’m able to.

What do you do for fun?  Spend time with my girlfriend/friends/family, watch sports, watch movies ,or enjoy the outdoors

Who are your heroes in real life?  My parents for raising me on a solid foundation so that I have the tools to be successful in life and also for showing me the value of hard work through their example.

If you were given more time in each day, what would you do?  I’d spend more time doing the fun things listed above.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?  Probably teleportation so that I could easily travel different places.

What is the best invention of your lifetime and why?  Social Media because of the revolutionary power of connectivity that it brings.

What are your future goals?  I’ve been offered a position with Ernst & Young to start work in September of 2013. Before I start, I plan to pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam. One day I would like to be a CFO or a large company.

What would be your ultimate dream job?  President or Athletics Director of UAB

If you had the power to solve one, and only one, problem in the world…what would it be and why?  I would eradicate all of the world’s diseases so that everyone would be healthy.

What’s the best advice you ever received?  Hard work is always rewarded.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?  “The College Transformation” because of how much I’ve grown academically, socially and through developing leadership skills compared to myself in high school.
