Anne Fairhead, Ph.D.

Anne Fairhead, Ph.D. realized a life-long dream when she first traveled to Antarctica in 2002. Although she has dived extensively in temperate waters while doing research as a biologist, she was keen to experience life on and below Antarctica’s ice.

As an NSF sponsored postdoctoral research fellow, she joins the UAB team to the continent in 2004. She will continue her work studying the chemical defensives of macro algae. Anne earned her Ph.D. from The University of Adelaide in South Australia where did work with an important species of kelp found in the southern hemisphere known as Ecklonia.
