"Currency Part 1: Modes of Expression"
This exhibition, which was co-curated by UAB Visual Arts Gallery Director Brett Levine and Professor of Printmaking Derek Cracco, M.F.A., explores contemporary practices in printmaking with an emphasis on abstraction, pattern and repetition. It presents works created in a range of printmaking media, including intaglio prints, screen prints and site-specific installation practices. Artists included in the exhibition are Polly Apfelbaum, Laura Berman, Karla Hackenmiller, Carl Fudge, Kevin Haas and Gunilla Klingberg.

"Currency Part 2: Means of Exchange"
This exhibition, which was co-curated by UAB Visual Arts Gallery Director Brett Levine and Professor of Printmaking Derek Cracco, M.F.A., examines the role and place of currency and printed money as a means of exchange in contemporary society. Through its depictions and deconstructions, the idea of printed money is explored. Artists include Srdjan Loncar, Jonathan Ferrara, Dan Tague, Imin Yeh, Curtis Readel and Obadiah Eelcut. A free opening reception is planned from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the UAB Visual Arts Gallery, 900 13th St South. Call 205-934-0815. Presented by the UAB Department of Art and Art History.

"TouchTone"
This project explores the intersections of sound, multimedia and the practices of creating and modifying existing musical instruments known as "circuit bending." Artist Andrew Bucksbaum from Indiana University will be the featured guest artist, and local artist/circuit bender Seth Lewis will curate a one-night project for NoiseLab, a program of the UAB Visual Arts Gallery, 900 13th St. South. The Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition Spring 2011. This exhibition features works by Jackson Echols, Alexandra Jo Hancock, Peyton Guthrie, Jacqueline Stafford, Lanette Parker, and Heather Wilson. The exhibition continues through Graduation Day, Saturday May 7th. Opening Thursday April 14th, 5 - 7 PM.
