Student Spotlight

Congratulations to BGSA alumnus, Dr. Lillian Brady, on her Academic Pathways Fellowship at Vanderbilt University!

After more than 20 years, the BGSA is still going strong

BLUEprint CONNECTDo you have a passion for working with motivated undergraduates who are interested in pursuing your area of study? BLUEprint CONNECT might be the program for you! BLUEprint CONNECT is a professional development program designed to link undergraduates with graduate & professional students at UAB that are currently working in an area of study that interests them.  Have you never mentored before?  Are you worried that you may not have enough experience to share with your mentee(s)? No problem!  The BGSA will offer a variety of preparatory mentorship and training workshops throughout the year so you will have resources and support!

Our students are currently enrolled in the following areas/disciplines:  Healthcare Management, Education, Computer Info Systems, Biology, Nursing, Pre-medicine, Health Service Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Engineering, Community Health, Exercise Science, Sociology and Epidemiology; but mentors from ALL disciplines are encouraged to join and offer these students strategies for success. All mentors will be matched with one or more students, based on career interests. Mentors will be required to spend at least one hour a month with their undergraduate student(s) working on professional development.  During these 1-hr sessions, you can be creative as you wish or you can use examples of activities that the BGSA has already prepared for you. Submit your application below by TBA. Questions?  Please contact Jerome Moulden II, Director of Mentoring, at moulden1@uab.edu.
