Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program

Admission to the UAB MBA Program requires that students have completed a calculus course with a grade of "C" or better within the past five years.  If an applicant does not meet this requirement, they may be admitted with the contingency of satisfying the requirment during their first term of enrollment. We offer several options for satisfying this requirement.

 

Option one: Complete MA 109 "Survey of Calculus" at UAB with a grade of "C" or better or complete a comparable course at another college or university and complete the course with at least a "C" grade.  A placement test or other prerequisites may be required for admission to MA 109.  You can call 934-2154 or visit the UAB Department of Mathmatics (www.math.uab.edu) for more information about taking MA 109 at UAB.


Option two: Successfully complete a series of four calculus proficiency exams.  These exams can be taken at no cost during normal business hours at the UAB School of Business Advising Office or online.


Option three: Students needing assistance in preparing for the tests can enroll in the Graduate School of Management's Calculus Review course and complete the proficiency exams as a part of that course.

 

  • The Graduate School of Management's Calculus Review course will be offered through the UAB Graduate School of Management and is taught Pass/Fail. Students will attend class each evening reviewing basic algebra and calculus that will be useful in business applications. The MBA faculty has worked with the instructor to design the class with you in mind. The Calculus Review course is offered twice a year in October (fall term) and February (spring term). Class meets over a three weekend period on Friday and Sunday evenings only from 5:45pm-9:30pm. The tests are available on-line or you can schedule an appointment to take them during our office hours.  The fee for this course is $260 and is payable only to the UAB Graduate School of Management by check or credit card.
