Marketing Professor Simon Sheng in the Collat School of Business has earned Quality Matters recognition for his course - MK 416 (International Marketing), an indicator of excellence in online education. Quality Matters (QM) is a nationally ranked program that has gained national attention for its faculty peer review process, which utilizes three QM certified reviewers.
In order to earn the national recognition, a course must meet each of the 21 essential standards, based on research, and receive a minimum of 84 (out of 99) points on the QM rubric. Dr. Sheng’s course received 97 out of 99 possible points.
“Developing great online courses that meet the highest quality standards helps all our students,” said Dr. Karen Kennedy, Collat’s senior associate dean. “Earning this recognition also exemplifies the excellent work our professors and instructional design team do to develop online courses.”
Dr. Elizabeth Fisher, Collat’s instructional design director, said earning QM recognition is a difficult process.
”Professor Sheng puts a lot of work in to ensuring the design of his courses offer the best instruction possible for his student,” Fisher said. “He is extremely committed to his students’ success.”
