Quality Matters (QM) is a nationally ranked program that has gained national attention for its faculty peer review process, which utilizes three QM certified reviewers. In order to earn the national recognition, a course must meet each of the 21 essential standards, based on research, and receive a minimum of 84 (out of 99) points on the QM rubric. Dr. Yates’s course received a perfect score of 99 out of 99 possible points.

Dr. Karen Kennedy, Collat’s senior associate dean, said that designing high quality online courses benefits all students. “Earning this recognition also exemplifies the excellent work our professors and instructional design team do to develop online courses,” she said.

Dr. Elizabeth Fisher, Collat’s instructional design director, said earning QM recognition is a stringent process. ”Professor Yates's first priority is her students,” Fisher said. “She is constantly seeking new ways to engage them and improve her teaching.”
