bapUAB's chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honors organization for financial students and professionals, has introduced a new associate membership level for students planning or considering majoring in accounting, finance or information systems. The associate membership level is available to students before they meet the requirements to become a candidate for full membership.

As an associate member, students are welcome to attend weekly professional meetings of Beta Alpha Psi as well as participate in community service events hosted by the organization. However, associate members will not be required to achieve a certain number of professional and service hours that full members are expected to meet.

The chapter recently received notification that the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors is recognizing it as a Superior Chapter within the organization. This status is a significant accomplishment and comes with a $500 award.

"Under the leadership of Professor Nabors, the Delta Chi Chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism, and leadership. As Faculty Advisor for the chapter, Professor Nabors has provided an invaluable service to your academic institution," Beta Alpha Psi President Sandra Richtermeyer wrote in a letter to Dean Eric Jack.

Chapter meetings are held on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. in BEC 105, followed by a social period in BEC 320 at 4:30 p.m. For more information and how to join, please contact Collat Instructor and Beta Alpha Psi Faculty Advisor Eddie Nabors at
