On Friday, April 23, Dr. Susan Golicic made a research presentation to the UAB Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution and Economics.  Dr. Golicic is recognized internationally as a thought leader in supply chain management.  Her presentation focused on recent research entitled “Supply Chain Strategy in Emerging Markets: A Case Study.”

Dr. Golicic is a noted professor of supply chain management at Colorado State University.  She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Wayne State University and an MBA and PhD in Logistics at the University of Tennessee.  Her research has been featured in recent issues of the Sloan Management Review, Wall Street Journal, Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management and other prestigious research outlets.

During her presentation, Dr. Golicic explained how the researchers examined the evolution of "go to market" strategies by high technology entrepreneurial firms in "emerging markets."  The research provided insights to strategic and tactical initiatives employed by entrepreneurs to establish and build effective relationships with vendors and distributors in "radically new supply chains."

This research is especially crucial to the MIDE department's Industrial Distribution and Advanced Sales Leadership programs.  Dr. Golicic's visit to UAB was part of the MIDE department's Visiting Scholar series.
