Dr. Steve Grice was awarded the 2011 President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, an award that recognizes full-time regular faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in teaching. One recipient is chosen from each school and the Joint Health Sciences.
Dr. Grice is a professor of accounting at UAB and currently serves as the Scholar-In-Residence for Carr, Riggs, & Ingram, LLC. He is a dedicated faculty member who has a true and deep concern for his students, the accounting and finance department and university. Recently, Dr. Grice volunteered to assume the role as instructor of the accounting capstone course. He was also promoted to Director of the Master of Accounting Program, effective January 2011.
Among the things that make Dr. Grice such an excellent teacher is his classroom presence. He is professional in his classroom, yet open, casual and courteous in his interactions with students. Consequently, student IDEA evaluations of Dr. Grice consistently rank in the top 10% in the Excellent Teacher category.
Dr. Grice has designed professional education courses on various accounting and auditing topics and has authored approximately 40 articles for various journals including Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Business Research, Advances in Accounting, The CPA Journal, Practical Tax Strategies, The National Accounting Journal, The Cooperative Accountant, The Journal of 21rst Century Accounting, Southern Business & Economic Journal, National Public Accountant, Ohio CPA Journal, Today's CPA, Business Quest, Tennessee CPA, and the TSU Business and Economic Review.
His service to students, the industry and the university makes him a role model to students and faculty. Dr. Grice is well deserving of the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
