Full and part-time internships available through the School of Business provide an opportunity for students to gain real-world experience and build their resume before graduating. Internships offer students a chance to explore certain industries or professions before launching into their career. Most internships are paid and often lead to job offers upon graduation.

Benefits
- Three hours of course credit (two hours for Industrial Distribution internship) with pass/fail grading basis or letter grade
- Paid experiences (compensation varies from $8 - $25 per hour)

Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate (junior, senior) student or graduate student for MBA and M.Ac. internships
- Completion of 9 hours of coursework (3 courses) in major
- Minimum GPA: 2.5 - 3.0 GPA in major courses
- Submit paper/report or present presentation at end of course

- Register with Career and Professional Development Services through the on-line DragonTrail Program- http://www.careerservices.uab.edu/dragontrail/students
- Contact Internship Coordinator for desired area of study to request internship application form (or agreement form).
- Submit updated resume and application form to Internship Coordinator.
- Interview with employer for internship position. Positions are competitive. There is no guarantee of obtaining position.
- Once you accept an internship offer, you must register and pay for the appropriate internship course to receive academic credit. A student may complete and internship-like experience without requesting academic credit (non-academic internship)
Preparation
- Meet with Internship Coordinator in advance (at least one or two semesters prior to internship) to discuss career goals.
- Schedule an appointment with UAB School of Business Career and Professional Services for assistance in resume writing and interview skills.
- Participate in professional and student organizations, and extracurricular activities related to major.
- Attend career networking events and information sessions related to major. Upcoming events
Notes
- Compensation is determined by agreement between student and employer.
- Experience must be related to some aspect of academic major.
- Experience may be in a currently held position or in a newly acquired position (permission required).
- Student may arrange internship through internship coordinator or directly with sponsoring organization (employer).
- Internship coordinator has final approval as to whether experience counts as an official internship for academic credit.
- Information Systems majors can compete for "premier" internships that provide "scholars" positions including pay and a full scholarship during the internship.
