The 10th Annual School of Business Scholarship Luncheon will be Monday, October 5, 2009 at The Club. The School of Business is proud to announce that 165 students were awarded a total of 226 scholarships for the 2009 – 2010 year.
The student speakers at the luncheon will be: Belicia Montgomery, a freshman who received the Opportunities in Business Scholarship; Jonathan Wilhite, a senior who received the Joe and Louise Robertson Scholarship; and Cameron Thompson, a sophomore who received the General Electric Industrial Distribution Minority Scholarship.
Vic Anthony Joseph Tagupa is a second-year MBA student who received the W. Jack Duncan Endowed Scholarship this year. He says that the scholarship helped him in many ways. “First and foremost, the scholarship released me from the burden of worrying about the increase of tuition and fees this semester. Second, the scholarship made me concentrate more on my studies by not having to look for part time jobs or other sources of income to ease financial burden. Lastly, the scholarship made me realize that there are people out there who are making a difference in other people's lives. These people, through their kindness and generosity will produce people like us who will continue their acts of kindness in the near future,” Tagupa says.
“The scholarship luncheon is one of the events I look forward to the most because it is an opportunity for me to meet the generous scholarship donors who have definitely made an impact in their respective recipients' lives. I personally would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. W. Jack Duncan for their utmost generosity in forming their scholarship and rest assured that their kind efforts will not go wasted. My attendance at the luncheon is the least I can do to express my heartfelt gratitude to the donors, the organizers, and everyone who made the awarding of scholarships possible. On behalf of all the recipients, thank you very much dear donors!”
