Strategic Planning Consultant Critiques Students’ Presentation on a Company’s Strategy

Caterpillar_GroupStrategic planning consultant Brent Peinhardt, President of Vantage Associates, met on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 with students in the combined undergraduate capstone and MBA strategic management class, “Conversations with CEOs.”

Recognizing that design of a strategic plan is just the first step in meeting a company’s goals, Peinhardt has expanded the services of his firm to include other services that promote successful implementation of plans. One service allows clients to track their progress toward strategic goals through a “dashboard” process developed by Vantage.

Peinhardt believes that the role of an advisory board is becoming increasingly important in the successful implementation of strategic plans at privately-held companies.  “Advisory boards, done well, allow companies to leverage the experience and contacts of its board members to maximize the success of their organization.  I’ve always believed that half of success in life is knowing who to call” says Peinhardt.

Peinhardt consults with a major distributor for Caterpillar construction and mining equipment, and critiqued the presentation of a group of students on that company’s strategy, during the Tuesday class session.

“Conversations with CEOs” is taught by Professors Eddie Friend and Steve Yoder, and includes in-person visits from an impressive list of CEOs of public and other complex organizations.
