The UAB School of Business is offering a day-long seminar designed to help working professionals stay current on accounting and auditing changes.
The Accounting CPE Day event on Friday, August 17, 2012 will feature five informative sessions in key subjects, such as fiduciary accounting, digital evidence in fraud investigations and the FASB’s and IASB’s conceptual framework, and participants will receive 8 hours of Accounting and Auditing CPE credit.
Industry icon Dennis Beresford, former chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and former national director of accounting standards for Ernst & Young, will provide the keynote address. Mr. Beresford is now the Ernst & Young Executive Professor of Accounting at the University of Georgia. His also is a director of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Legg Mason, Inc., and Fannie Mae.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast at the UAB National Alumni House and continue until 5 p.m. The course fee -- $225 for individuals and $200 each for groups of 3 or more -- covers five sessions, session materials, a continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.
Event speakers include Steve Grice, PhD, the Botts Professor of Accounting at Troy University; Jenice Prather-Kinsey, PhD, the Sallie W. Dean Scholar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; Jo Parr, CPA, an attorney at Copeland, Franco, Screws and Gill, P.A.; and Kelly Todd, a shareholder at Forensic Strategic Solutions, PC.
