Internships Heat-Up for UAB Business Students

Students report that one of the top reasons they choose UAB to study business is access to the surrounding business community and the internship program.  The School of Business enjoys partnerships with businesses throughout the area, creating a hot plate for students to feed from, nourishing them with experience that helps to carve their future career path.  Tremendous opportunities exist for students to practice their newly acquired skills through quality internships right here in the Birmingham area.  Students with local internships can continue taking courses if they desire, and don’t have to incur the additional expenses involved with relocating for an internship.

Students realize the importance of building their resumes while in college and understand that employers are looking at more than GPAs. Often, students receive full-time job offers before graduation from companies where they intern. The National Association of Colleges and Employers reports in The 2012 Internship & Co-op Survey that the overall conversion rate for turning interns into full-time hires has hit an all-time high-58.6 percent.
