The performance of finance student Kiersten Engel as one of the top 100 international scorers on the BAT (Bloomberg Aptitude Test) earned an invitation for her to the BAT Summer Intern Challenge, an exclusive networking event in New York or London on August 1st.
The BAT measures knowledge in eight key areas: math, analytical reasoning, analysis of charts and graphs, news analysis, economics, global markets, analysis of financial statements, and investment banking.Kiersten is a UAB math major, earning a minor in finance. She moved to Birmingham from New York in 2007 to dance with the Alabama Ballet, and is in her 7th season with them. Last year, Kiersten was a portfolio manager for the UAB Green and Gold Fund, a student run investment fund with over $550K in assets, and is currently interning with R2 Macro in Birmingham. Kiersten plans to graduate from UAB in May 2014, and will be looking for a career designing and analyzing technical trading systems. In the meantime, she will continue dancing ballet professionally.
