Professor Yoder Speaks to BirminghamCREW

Assistant Professor Stephen A. Yoder spoke recently to the Birmingham chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) on what the recent Dodd-Frank financial regulatory reform law might mean to the commercial real estate industry.

CREW is an organization of commercial real estate professionals in various parts of the industry, including lending, brokerage, appraisal, law and title insurance.  Yoder described provisions of Dodd-Frank that will encourage banking supervisors as well as banks to engage women-owned business to a greater degree than they are today, creating opportunities for women in commercial real estate.

Yoder also noted that new restrictions on lender underwriting of mortgage loans might make rental real estate projects more attractive than owner-occupied projects.
