New sales tax figures released today show Alabama's back to school sales for August were up 2.4% over last year.

That may be the confidence stores like Party City and Kohl's need to start adding temporary workers. And for a lot of folks without jobs, any paycheck is a blessing right now.
Stores like Kohl's, Macy's, Pier 1, and Toys 'R Us all plan to hire more holiday workers this year. A retail expert at UAB, Mickey Gee, says there's an easy explanation.
