To increase access and convenience for students, the School of Business recently hired Elizabeth Fisher, PhD as the school’s Instructional Design Manager. Dr. Fisher’s role is to work with various departments and faculty in the School of Business to develop new online programs and elective courses, policies and procedures for online course development, and a timeline for rollout of the programs.
Additionally, Dr. Fisher is working with faculty individually and in groups to revise existing courses and build new ones to ensure effective and quality online instruction. To that end, she is facilitating various professional development opportunities that allow faculty to experience online learning from both the student and faculty perspectives, providing tips and strategies to ensure best practices and quality standards in online instruction.
Dr. Fisher has been involved in education for over thirteen years, the last five of which has been focused in online instruction in higher education. During that time, she earned a doctorate degree from The University of Alabama in Instructional Leadership with a technology concentration. Additionally, she has collaborated with numerous faculty in a variety of roles to develop online instruction, gaining experience from the student, designer, and instructor roles.
