Parking Options for the UAB Campus Recreation Center (Effective May 1, 2012)

With the start of the new academic year, we wanted to provide clarification of the Campus Recreation parking validation privilege and procedures.

  • All Employees who park in UAB facilities with access cards will be granted privileges to the 9th Avenue deck on their parking access card through the UAB parking and transportation department. It will be valid at the 9th Ave. entrance (next to Denman Hall) from 5am to 7am and after 4pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
  • Several area lots are available at no cost to any member after 4:00pm weekdays and all weekends, which include Lot 5A (directly across University Blvd.) and all lot 15 parking lots and decks.
  • Campus Recreation will validate a parking ticket for all UAB Faculty/Staff, Non-Employees and Non-Student Members (includes: Alumni, Recent Alumni, Retirees, and Household Members) of the CRCT on your way out and will pay for up to two hours of parking per validation anytime before 4pm. Costs for hours beyond those first two hours will be the responsibility of the member to pay when exiting the parking deck.

**The Lot 5A will remain open during HUC Shutdown and the entrance will change to 16th Avenue.

Take Campus Ride!

Campus Recreation and Campus Ride are teaming up to make getting to your workout a little bit easier! Employees can now get a lift with Campus Ride to the Rec Center for a workout during the day without the hardship of driving and parking.

The drop-off point for the CRCT is located on 16th Street. Campus Ride picks up at a variety of locations throughout campus and is free to use. Campus Ride operates Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. Parking is available between 4:00 pm and 6:30 am in the 9th Ave deck and Lot 5A across from the Rec Center. Directions

The Campus Recreation Center is located on University Boulevard just steps from most major UAB buildings, making it easy to workout every day. It is on the corner of University Boulevard and 15th Street South.
