This is an opportunity for the beginner to experience ice climbing in the top rope environment. Equipment and hotel lodging are included in the cost of trip. We will be climbing in Iowa on ice covered grain silo’s! We will be hitting the ice on both Saturday and Sunday, giving you lots of practice and experience on different types of ice.

Tumbling Rock Cave is one of Alabama's best kept secrets! Spend the day on a guided hike through the cave's many passages. Head through the Great Hall of Mysteries to check out Kings Showers; at 465' it is Alabama's largest waterfall! Be sure to pack a lunch to eat when you get to the Christmas tree formation. ;

Climbing Comp: CRCT Climbing Wall - Feb 9 (Sat), 2013

Come and join us for the UAB 3nd Annual Wall Crawl Climbing Competition. Climbers of all ages and abilities can come and show their skills. The competition will be divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced brackets for both male and female. Competition will feature both bouldering and top-rope climbing. The champions of each division will get to pick from our selection of great prizes. 

There will be two heats of climbing. One will start at 9am, with registration opening at 8, the other at 11:15 with registration starting at 10:30. The later heat is for climbers from out of town. The event will last until 5:00.

Sand Rock: rock climbing, AL - Mar 2 (Sat), 2013

Come and join us for a great climbing trip designed for climbers of all skill levels. This is an opportunity for the beginner to experience outdoor climbing in the top rope environment and for an experienced climber to climb at one of Alabama’s best climbing locations. This sandstone climbing area includes a series of tall boulders strewn along the side of the mountain varying in height from 30 feet to 90 feet. The trip will be run by experienced UAB trip leaders and a certified rock climbing guide. Equipment is included in the cost of the trip. So come and join us on the rocks and have a great experience.

Paddle open kayaks down one of Alabama’s best white water rivers; the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River. Just one hour from Birmingham you’ll find scenery and fun rapids. All equipment is included. Join this trip as we will be hiking into some of the most beautiful slot canyons in the world. Slot canyons including buckskin gulch, one of the longest in North America with a width of less than 10 feet wide for much of it length and cliffs that reach 500 feet high above you. Also this trip gives participants an opportunity of a lifetime to admire what is considered one of the natural Wonders of the World, the grandiose Grand Canyon. Spend your spring break exploring through some of the most beautiful terrain that Arizona and Utah have to offer.

The Cumberland Plateau lies just west of the Appalachian Mountains and is home to scores of beautiful waterfalls. Many of these fall over large cliffs into beautiful rock amphitheaters including Fall Creek Falls, which is the largest single plunge waterfall east of the Rockies. Kayak across the inter-coastal waterway to Georgia’s largest and most southern barrier island. Spend two nights of backcountry camping on the island, where a park permit affords the group the possibility of our own private beach. Departing Thursday morning allows time to enjoy the island. Enjoy the wildlife, a chance to see sea turtles, porpoises, and many other flora and fauna. This is a great experience for all skill levels!

Join Outdoor Pursuits as we paddle the rivers and waterways of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. This river delta is the second largest in the nation, encompassing a 10-mile wide marsh, cypress-tupelo swamp, and bottomland hardwood ecosystem. The Bartram Canoe Trail, with its floating platform campsites and beautiful flatwater paddling, is truly one of Alabama’s finest outdoor recreation experiences.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a hiker's paradise with over 800 miles of maintained trails ranging from short leg-stretchers to treks that require backcountry camping. The Smokies offer a great getaway in the foothills of the Appalachain Mountains complete with diverse plant and animal life and beautiful views of waterfalls. Coosa River: paddling, AL - Jun 1 (Sat), 2013

Join us for a day of paddling on the Coosa River near Wetumpka.  This trip is a must-do in Alabama for beginner and experienced paddlers alike!  We will begin just below Jordan Dam with some moving flat water and paddle downstream to swift class II/III rapids.  During the trip, you'll have the opportunity to lounge on one of the many rock islands, go for a swim, or walk around or try your skills in the most famous rapid on the river, Moccasin Gap.  This river is suitable for all levels of canoeing ability.

Join us we raft Section III of the Chattooga River! This Wild and Scenic River flows through the beautiful wilderness on the border between Georgia and South Carolina and offers Class II-III whitewater, with a big finale at Bull Sluice Rapid. For an extra $10, you can paddle your own guided ducky!
