The New Year will usher in many changes in UAB Career Services, with the biggest being a name change. Career Services is now Career & Professional Development Services. This new name better incorporates the entire scope of our services.

Along with a new name we have redesigned our website using student focus group suggestions. You may expect a more user friendly site with more useful information.

Also new to students and employers will be three new industry targeted career fairs replacing the one general career fair in the spring: the Government, Non-Profit and Volunteer Fair in January, the Business-Engineering-Technology Career Fair in March and the Health and Sciences Career Fair in April. We will continue to hold the Education Career Fair for teaching candidates, although it will move to February this year.

New staff members are abundant and include: Emily Tubergen, Assistant Director in the School of Public Health ; Lauren Smith, Employer Relations Specialist ; Kristy Weber, Social Networking Specialist and John Nugent, Program Manager in the School of Health Professions.

UAB Career & Professional Development Services hopes these changes will be advantageous to all as we try to provide the services and programs that will empower students to succeed in meeting their career goals.
