YWCA AmeriCorps ProgramNEW DATE – April 25th from 1-3pm in the HUC Alumni Auditorium.
Likened to the domestic Peace Corps, AmeriCorps is an opportunity for men and women to serve their communities and make an impact, while also receiving invaluable training and development. The YWCA’s Building Communities, Bettering Lives AmeriCorps Program has 34 open member positions and is possible because of a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service and support from Serve Alabama: The Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service.
Full-year AmeriCorps members serve at least 1720 hours during a year. Mid-year members serve 1000 hours. YWCA Central Alabama members serve until August 2014 at the YWCA and with several partnering agencies including Heart Gallery of Alabama, Alabama Pre and Post Adoption Connections, Girl Scouts, Workshops, Inc., REV Birmingham, Woodlawn Foundation, AIDS Alabama, Hope Manifest, Pathways, Youth Serve, Girls, Inc., One Roof, Leading Edge Initiative, Girls on the Run, Railroad Park Foundation, Safehouse, and Conservation Alabama Foundation.
Recruiting for the 2013-2014 AmeriCorps term begins in April 2013. Members start service in September 2013. Please log onto DragonTrail to register to attend the event.
