Biology Professor, Chuck Amsler, at the South Pole

As an National Science Foundation (NSF) rotator and UAB polar research scientist, Dr. Amsler is currently serving as the Program Manager of the Organisms and Ecosystems Program for the Section of Antarctic S sciences under the Directorate of Geosciences at the National Science Foundation.  Chuck is currently in Antarctica reviewing research support facilities and the various funded science programs under his management at NSF. Chuck will return to his role as Professor in the Department of Biology after finishing his turn as an NSF rotator, bringing a wealth of knowledge that will enhance academic and research opportunities for UAB undergraduate and graduate students as well as our faculty.

Below are two pictures Dr. Amsler sent us from the South Pole in January 2014.
