The focus of my PhD graduate study is explore the structure and function of microbial communities in Antarctic perennially ice-covered freshwater lake ecosystems.

""I am using NextGen sequencing technology along with bioinformatics tools to understand the evolutionary significance of microbial mats in these lakes. Additionally, I am conducting whole genome sequencing (WGS) of Antarctic bacteria (Hymenobacter, Duganella, Pseudomonas, and Janthinobacterium), using Illumina Miseq and bioinformatics tools to understand the genome organization of bacteria in extremely cold ecosystems.

I have extended my work to the study of the bacteria of the gastrointestinal tract (gut microbiome), specifically focusing on the impact that various diets and environmental contributions have in shaping the gut microbiomes of Sea Urchin and Zebrafish.
