Gary M. Gray Professor, (b. 1950), obtained a B.S. degree in chemistry at Lehigh University (1972). He then pursued graduate studies under Professor Charles S. Kraihanzel in the Department of Chemistry at Lehigh University (Ph.D. Inorganic Chemistry, 1978). Dr. Gray then spent five years at J. T. Baker Chemical Co. before joining the Department of Chemistry at UAB in 1983.
The theme of our multidisciplinary research is that incorporation of inorganic groups into known molecular or polymeric materials may impart unique properties. Three projects are currently underway in our research group. These projects are in the materials chemistry research thrust area in the department although certain aspects of project 2 may also fit into the bioactive molecules thrust area.
