Interdisciplinary Innovation Forum Print E-mail

We are excited to announce the first Interdisciplinary Innovation Forum, which we will be held on January 24, 2012 at the UAB Alumni House.  The goal of the forum is to focus on the world's biggest problems where interdisciplinary innovations will have a big impact.  The first theme is "New Energy Sources and Global Demand" and future forums will address issues such as "Innovations in Drug Delivery/Discovery", "Environmental Change/Sustainability", "Cultural and Intellectual Context and Perspectives, "Biomedical Ethics", Computer Simulations/Human Health and other topics suggested by faculty.

At each forum, several faculty members/external speakers will make short presentations on new developments in their field of research that have an interdisciplinary component/commercial interest and present it to interested faculty in the CAS, School of Engineering, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions, School of Medicine, School of Optometry, and the School of Business.

Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary and Creative Innovation, Yogesh Vohra, Ph.D., is excited about bringing together faculty from across the campus and the UAB entrepreneurial enterprise.  He sees these forums as the catalyst to promote interdisciplinary interactions between CAS faculty and with other UAB entities and the Birmingham Business Alliance.
