Research Interests: Congenital heart defects occur in as many as 1% of newborns, and are the leading cause of infant morbidity and mortality. The most common disorders are caused by malformations in septum formation and valvulogenesis (septal-valvulogenesis) during cardiogenesis. Tgf-beta/Bmp signaling pathways play critical roles during many biological processes including septal-valvulogenesis.

Research Interests: Exploring the significance of mitochondrial structural change in health and disease. Mitochondria are the cellular organelles that became the seat of energy production and intermediary metabolism during the course of evolution of eukaryotic cells. They are also crucial players in redox balance, calcium homeostasis, lipid modification and regulation of cell death in various developmental contexts.
