Film. The Film Minor

Are you interested in cinema? Documentaries? Experimental film? Then you should consider a minor in Film. This interdisciplinary minor covers both film studies and filmmaking in all genres of experimental, narrative, and documentary film. It is an appropriate complement to either a major or minor in Foreign Languages. You will be able to take courses through the Departments of Art and Art History, Theatre, English, Music, History, and Foreign Languages and Literature. You can learn more about the minor requirements in the UAB Undergraduate Catalog.

Employers in almost every industry are looking for employees with the ability to put together videos to advertise services, promote events, or create the next viral hit. A minor in film can give you a leg up in the fields of communication, nonprofits, education, social work, and many other fields.

Dr. Serge Bokobza is the departmental adviser for the film minor and can be contacted through email.

Individually Designed Major/Minor

Students with specific career goals or with unique individual objectives may propose majors and minors designed to meet their individual academic needs. The Individually Designed Major/Minor (IDM) is designed to assist the student who would like a major or minor for which there is no established curriculum.
