Guided listening and class discussion covering variety of styles. Emphasis on European concert music of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. (CORE AREA II).

MU115 Computer Music I

Introduction to hardware and software for creating and performing music with computers. Concepts include digital sampling, binary computation, properties of waveforms, graphical notation, and audio sequencing. Quantitative Literacy is a significant component of this course.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate level MU 100 Minimum Grade of B

Class meets TUESDAY, May 31, 6:00-8:20 pm, then Mondays June 6, 13, 20, 27, with final concert on Monday, July 4, at 7:00 pm. Performs finest concert band literature. Open to students of all majors. May be repeated for credit.
