About This Major

At the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), students majoring in music technology explore how advances in computer and other technology impact the creation, presentation, and recording of music.


Program Requirements

  • 16 hours of music theory/aural skills
  • 5-6 hours of music history and literature
  • 18 hours of music technology
  • 3 hours of advanced theory electives
  • 4 hours of applied lessons
  • Minimum of 6 hours of ensembles

How to Apply

UAB music scholarships are based on individual auditions before the music faculty. If you are interested in becoming a music major, you should attend one of the department's major audition days, which will automatically allow you to be considered for one or more scholarships.
