KevinPeekandJakeHemmingerKevin Peek and Jake Hemminger recently became the first UAB Music Technology Majors to attain AVID Pro Tools Certification under UAB’s AVID Learning Partner (ALP) program.  The ALP program offers students professional-level certification on AVID software and hardware, including industry standard Pro Tools, Media Composer and Sibelius.  UAB is the only school in the state of Alabama and among a very few in the southeast designated an AVID Learning Partner.

A senior from Montgomery, Jake Hemminger (tenor) studies voice with UAB Associate Professor of Voice, Kristine Hurst-Wajszczuk. After successful auditions for the prestigious Harrower Summer Opera Workshop, Hemminger was cast this summer in several principal roles, including Street Scene and Les contes d'Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann)

Senior Kevin Peek is a composer, guitarist, and member of UAB’s Computer Music Ensemble. In 2012 Kevin won 1st Place in Region IV of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for sound design and 2nd Place nationally. The new UAB marketing campaign “Where Knowledge Begins” features music composed by Peek. Here’s the link:
