APPLICATIONS DUE FEBRUARY 1, 2024

The UAB Center for Community OutReach Development (CORD) is pleased to host the 2024 Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair (CARSEF). The fair will be held IN-PERSON at the UAB Campus Recreation Center (1501 University Blvd.). Middle school students will compete in the Junior Division and high school will compete in our Senior Division. Participants will also select the category their project will be placed to compete on their application. Students can compete individually or in a team of up to 3 members. Participants are also required to submit an application and additional paperwork. The Fair is open to all middle and high school students in Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dekalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Randolph, St. Clair, Shelby, Talladega, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties. Typically, students must win 1st – 3rd place in their school or district Science and Engineering Fair. However, if your school does not have a fair, you may compete in the UAB Fair by recommendation from your science teacher.

To Advance to the Alabama State Fair and the Intel International Fair, students MUST complete all requirements prior to the deadlines designated by the Regeneron Science Fair Guidelines. All presenters must meet the Science Fair animal protection and human use requirements prior to being allowed to present.

March 2, 2024: Science Fair Competition

Students will compete in a traditional in-person science fair held at the UAB-Campus Recreation Center. Award Ceremony will follow the same day of competition. Regional Fair 1st – 3rd place winners, in each category, will advance to compete at the State Fair, held in Auburn, in April. Top four Senior Division winners of the UAB Regional Fair will automatically advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair held in May.
