The UAB College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to again offer campus-wide training to junior faculty planning to apply for a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award.

The Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes full-time regular faculty members of College of Arts and Sciences who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in teaching.

Dr. D. Scott Batey, Assistant Professor of Social Work, and his colleagues have won the UAB College of Arts and Sciences interdisciplinary team award.

Students interested in the field of social work are encouraged to attend Social Work Career Day.

The Student Social Work Organization sponsored a documentary about the impact of clean water on villages in Kenya.

The The UAB Tech Challenge High School Programming Contest brings talented students from high schools throughout Alabama to demonstrate their programming skills and problem solving abilities.

Pamela Sterne King, assistant professor in the UAB History Department, has been named president of the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation.

Assistant Professor of Art History Noa Turel will present a paper, “Drawing Machines and Redrawing a World Order in Late-Medieval Europe,” at the 106th annual College Art Association national conference.

Dr. Kevin McCain, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham will discuss “Forgetting Memory Skepticism.”
