Carol Odess and Kelly Allison in Sitka This summer our beloved benefactor Carol Odess (seen here with Department Chair Kelly Allison) brought several of our people to Alaska's Sitka Fine Arts Camp. The Camp offers opportunities for University students to work with younger aspiring theatre artists in perfect environment for experiential learning.

Theatre UAB students who participated this year included Angela Carstensen and Natalie Kinsaul. "The level of talent among the camp instructors is simply extraordinary," Kelly Allison says. "Expectations are extremely high for the participants." And, he adds, the other staff members at the camp raved about the work Natalie and Angela did this summer.

Kelly also says that in the near future, we may send students from Engineering as well as Theatre. Some of the facilities of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp have been ignored for too long but are now in demand as the camp continues to grow. Engineering students from Yale worked on the buildings last year, so we need to show these Yale folks what UAB people can do.
