Tobie Windham and Shinelle AzorohDepartment alums Tobie Windham and Shinelle Azoroh are lighting up stages and screens -- and each other's lives as well.  Individually they've starred in a plays and films all over the West Coast, and together they are not only husband and wife, but a creative team living in West Holywood and working as writers, producers, actors, and teachers.

Carol Odess and Kelly Allison in Sitka This summer our beloved benefactor Carol Odess (seen here with Department Chair Kelly Allison) brought several of our people to Alaska's Sitka Fine Arts Camp. The Camp offers opportunities for University students to work with younger aspiring theatre artists in perfect environment for experiential learning.

amanda-kabukiOur increasingly-famous alum Amanda Mattes has done it again -- this time with a video that's gone viral. Her TED-Ed Lesson Kabuki: the People's Dramatic Art has received over 250,000 YouTube views at this writing -- 100,000 of those in the first 24 hours!

Jereme LewisUPDATED AGAIN: Class of 2011 grad Jereme Kyle Lewis keeps rising to new heights in NYC! He's now Stage Manager for the Broadway hit The Trip to Bountiful. So our Jereme is now giving cues to Cuba Gooding Jr, Vanessa Williams, and Tony-Award-winning Cicely Tyson.

Jordan Reeves Department alum Jordan Reeves has gone on to success in NYC as a Community Manager for TED-Ed. Now he returns to Alabama as one of 16 speakers at the March 1 TEDxBirmingham conference. Theresa Robbins DudeckTheresa Robbins Dudeck, Ph.D. (Theatre UAB 1992) has been working for years on the definitive biography of groundbreaking director Keith Johnstone, and her efforts have paid off -- the book is now out from Bloomsbury and is available worldwide.

Audra YokleyCongratulations to Department alum Audra Yokley, who has accepted an offer to become the Development Associate of Foundation Relations at Chicago Opera Theater. The company prides itself on producing new and/or rare works, such as Verdi's Joan of Arc the rarely-performed Macbeth opera. We're happy for the Chicago theatre scene; this will mean Audra will have more opportunities to act on their stages!

Britt Rentschler in "Instant Mom" in NickelodeonDepartment alum Britt Rentschler (seen here in her role as party girl "Holly" on the NickMom TV series "Instant Mom") was featured as "Elena Markov" in a recent episode of the hit ABC TV series Castle.  For a while at least, you can still see the episode on the ABC site.

Lauren Lippeatt Department alum Lauren Lippeatt, seen here on the cover of Fit & Well Magazine, returns to her alma mater on occasion to lead discussions on the positive effects of yoga on mental health. She'll also lead a Women's Empowerment Workshop on April 12th off-campus --get the details here.
