Audra YokleyCongratulations to Department alum Audra Yokley, who has accepted an offer to become the Development Associate of Foundation Relations at Chicago Opera Theater. The company prides itself on producing new and/or rare works, such as Verdi's Joan of Arc the rarely-performed Macbeth opera. We're happy for the Chicago theatre scene; this will mean Audra will have more opportunities to act on their stages!

Hannah HughesRecent grad Hannah Hughes is one of the stars of the horror film V/H/S/2 in theatres now! She plays Clarissa in the segment "Phase I Clinical Trials." Hannah seems to have an affinity for horror films -- she's acted in many, including a few made here in Birmingham. Stay safe, Hannah!
Andrea FrankleThe comedy film THE HOT FLASHES opened in July, with an impressive roster of stars -- including Theatre UAB alum Andrea Frankle. This is only the latest of a long string of theatrical and screen successes for Andrea since her days with us. Longtime fans of Theatre UAB still speak highly of her Maggie in our production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. We can't wait to see her in this film!
Alana Jordan in MISSING PIECESSome UAB theatre and film alums can now be seen on Hulu, thanks to the web distribution of Birmingham filmmaker Kenton Bartlett's film Missing Pieces. Among the local folks visible in the film are Alana Jordan, Judson Entrekin, and Hadley Wells. The entire film is online here.

anthony-ironsChicago actor and Second City alum Anthony Irons returns to Birmingham July 6 to perform a play he created while he was one of our students.

The play is a one-man show called "Passage," a series of vignettes touching on different phases of African-American history and heritage.

Long-time fans of Theatre UAB will remember Irons as "Puck" in our 1999 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the first show we produced in the Alys Stephens Center.

Dennis McLernon Vessela Warner Promotions well-earned for our own Vessela Warner and Dennis McLernon! Vessela has been awarded tenure and attained the rank of Associate Professor, and Dennis has earned the rank of Full Professor. Our most heartfelt congratulations to them both!
Much Ado About NothingGrassroots Shakespeare Alabama is the newest addition to Birmingham's theatre landscape, and it's chock-full of Theatre UAB alumni and students: Rebecca Harper, Alora King, Kyle Hulcher, Taylor Richardson, Allison Shackelford, Markeitra Gilliam, Daniel Martin, Jared Funderburg, Julia Spring, and Elliot Cleverdon!  Their first show is Much Ado About Nothing and it runs now through July 6th in various Birmingham venues.  Here's the complete schedule:
