The integrated home for Informatics represents our coordinated approach to providing an enterprise-wide focus on informatics and the provision of informatics resources. CCTS Informatics, in partnership with the other entities that comprise our integrated home, has been the driving force behind many of the institutional informatics changes that have occurred over the past five years. CCTS Informatics personnel are providing leadership for endeavors such as: establishment of the UAB Informatics Working Group (IWG), use of Next-Generation Sequencing analytics, and the Enterprise Data Warehousing Initiative.
CCTS Informatics serves as the resource center for efforts that provide the infrastructure to collect structured clinical data at the point of care; export it to a data warehouse that also contains genomic and other biological information; and use the data for clinical, translational and outcomes research from bench to bedside and back. It also interfaces with CCTS investigators and the national CTSA community to develop tools and services, and to provide informatics education.
