The CCTS Informatics Program offers assistance with planning and implementing research data capture tools:
Assistance in developing the Informatics and/or data management component of research proposals
Evaluation and assistance with data capture design
Standard data elements, forms, terminology, etc.
Data Quality Control (QC)
Consulting services on Best Practices for Data Management
Data Access/Collection
The
CCTS Informatics Program acts as the liaison between users (UAB investigators) and a variety of data sources including UAB clinical and health systems data. We do this by:
- Analyzing user needs
- (Developing use cases) Assisting with specific data access requests
- Assisting in the use of data access tools
- Assisting with data capture projects including capturing research data in the clinical setting and development of data capture forms and surveys
- (Serving as the major entity for testing from the end-user’s perspective)
Data Storage
The
CCTS Informatics Group will work with you to determine your data storage needs. This might include development of databases that will properly store and organize your data. We will help you determine the best software and data management system to use, as well as the best way to manage those systems.
Data Analysis
We provide access to a variety of analytical tools that can support your bioinformatics analysis needs. Currently, UAB investigators can obtain cost-free accounts to use the Genetics Computer Group (GCG) Wisconsin package of sequence analysis tools.
