The
CTS Training Program identifies those motivated to further their clinical and translational research training. The program provides six months of
research training, through 50 hours of lectures and interactive sessions.
- Trainees are identified by their Department Chairs or Division Directors, based on having substantial potential for an academic career in clinical research.
- Participants are selected from biomedical-related schools at UAB, including the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Health Professions, Optometry, Nursing, and Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Didactic instruction includes lectures within the following modules: Clinical Trials, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Ethics, Clinical Genetics Research, Behavioral Research, Outcomes Research, Dissemination of Results, and Grant Writing and Funding Opportunities.
All of the sessions are presented by experienced clinical and translational researchers or individuals with special expertise in areas such as grants and contracts and regulatory issues.
