June 14, 2012. "Where Do New Drugs Come From? An Introduction to Drug Discovery and Development" was presented by Maaike Everts, PhD, Research Project Director for the Alabama Drug Discovery Alliance (ADDA). The goals of the seminar: 1) introduce to the drug discovery and development pipeline, 2) explain target identification and validation, 3) touch upon high-throughput screening, 4) describe medicinal chemistry and lead optimization, and 5) provide examples of each of the topics mentioned above by highlighting ongoing ADDA projects. February 9, 2012. How to Kill Creativity in Your Work Group by Stephen A. Yoder, JD, UAB School of Business. The goal of this session is to explore why leaders need to nurture creativity in their organizations and how doing so will make their teams more productive, effective and happier. Professor Yoder discussed other aspects of creativity in CCTS professional skills training programs in 2010 and 2011.
