CTSA Tool Shop Webinar

The first CTSA Tool Shop webinar will be held on Friday, June 22nd at 1 pm CT featuring: cTAKES – clinical Text Analytics and Knowledge Extraction System, a tool from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Ever wonder how to best extract structured data elements from clinical narratives?  If so, cTAKES: clinical Text Analysis and Knowledge Extraction System is an open-source natural language processing system for information extraction from electronic medical record clinical free-text.  It processes clinical notes, identifying types of clinical named entities — drugs, diseases/disorders, signs/symptoms, anatomical sites and procedures.  Each named entity has attributes for the text span, the ontology mapping code, context (family history of, current, unrelated to patient), and negated/not negated.  The tool has been developed and deployed at Mayo Clinic since early 2000.

This webinar will also cover other available NLP tools and where to access them.  The presentation/demo will be given by Hongfang Liu, James Masanz and Troy Bleeker from the Mayo Clinic CTSA institution.  If you are interested in attending this CTSA sponsored event, use this link to register.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
