Design of Pilot Studies

Brought to you by the NIAMS Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Center and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science:

Design of Pilot Studies: A Workshop

Friday, May 31, 2013

9–11 a.m, Ryals 107

This seminar, designed for new investigators (doctoral students, post doctoral fellows, and junior faculty) who are preparing to pilot study applications, will focus on how to write specific aims and to propose analyses that are appropriate for pilot studies. It will emphasize that pilot studies are primarily focused upon feasibility of proposed research (can it be done?), ability to recruit (can you get the subjects?), and ability to collect data (can you measure your outcome?).  The seminar will also focus on how well-conducted pilot studies can springboard to larger research applications.
