The mission of the CCTS Training Interdisciplinary & Emerging Research Scholars (TIERS) program is to provide beneficial information on career planning and development. Topics are presented in a relaxed environment structured to promote collaborative learning, networking, and problem-solving.
As part of its TIERS program, the CCTS has launched a new online journal club. One novel aspect of this club is that the speakers will be authors of the high-impact journal article being discussed. This will provide participants with the opportunity to interact directly with individuals who were integrally involved with the science. Participants do not have to have a current career development or training award to attend. Any junior faculty, postdoctoral fellow, or pre-professional student interested in an academic research career may participate.
The journal club will meet quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month, interspersed with regular TIERS meetings on non-club months. Both TIERS and the journal club will take place the second Thursday of every month from 2:30pm-4:30pm at the Pittman Center for Advanced Medical Studies building (PCAMS). Both meetings will also be available via GoToMeeting (see access information below). The schedule for upcoming TIERS/Journal Club follows.
