From aerobics to rappelling, Special Studies offers a healthy choice of classes in fitness, sports, martial arts and adventure sports. Our fitness classes include: Personal Fitness, Wonder Workout, Yoga, Strength Training, Massage for Relaxation, Water Aerobics, Wonderfull Workout (for those over their desired weight), Body Sculpting for Women and Low Impact/Bench Aerobics.

Take advantage of the UAB Bell Gym facility with a Lifetime Fitness and/or Swimming membership. All the gym's amenities will be available to you, including: boxing equipment, Nautilus equipment, 1 squash court, 2 stair steppers, Indoor suspended track, 9 Pacific Fitness multipurpose weight equipment stations, Indoor heated pool with chair lift for the disabled, Equipment for volleyball, badminton, table tennis, snorkeling, racquetball, free weight room, 3 basketball courts, Callisthenic room, Weight room, 4 volleyball courts, 11 outdoor tennis courts, 6 racquetball courts, 6 Lifecycles and 4 wet vests.

Sample a few and find a sport you like with a Sports/Adventure Sports class: Ice Skating, Boxing, Rappelling, Sailing, Kayaking, Golf, Swimming, Backpacking, Scuba Diving, Tennis, Fly Fishing, Canoe Camping and White Water Canoeing. We also offer Lifeguard Training and First Aid/CPR Red Cross Certification.

Martial Arts classes include Tai Chi Chuan, Karate, Aikido, Shin kendo, and Chinese and Korean Martial Arts.

New classes are developed and offered regularly.
