Originally from Washington, DC, Emily Falk Libby is a cum laude graduate of Yale University, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science in 2001 with distinction in the major and was awarded the Patterson Research Prize in Political Science, Richter Fellowship for Independent Research Abroad, and Perloth Prize for Summer Foreign Travel. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Emily completed an M.S.P.H. in Epidemiology in 2007 and has been a predoctoral student in the Department of Nutrition Sciences since 2011. She became a CPCTP Trainee in 2012.

Emily’s research interests span the gamut of translational science, ranging from molecular mechanisms behind obesity-cancer links to diet and exercise interventions throughout survivorship. Of particular focus is the role of energy balance in autophagy, and how that relationship factors across the cancer continuum. Outside of her research, Emily is a running, biking, and winter sports enthusiast, having successfully tackled multiple marathons, two bicycle crossings of the United States, and a dogsledding/cross-country skiing expedition in the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota.
