Michelle Williams earned a bachelor of science degree and a master of public health degree from Florida A&M University.  She has also earned a graduate certificate in Adult Education from Florida State University and a graduate certificate in Women and Gender studies from the University of South Carolina. Her academic and career interests are focused on eliminating cancer disparities with an emphasis on cancer prevention through the development and implementation of innovative health education and health promotion interventions targeting nutrition, physical activity and screening behaviors. She is also interested in global health and has conducted research in Ghana, West Africa as a scholar in the National Institutes of Health Minority Health International Research Training program and as a Fulbright student scholar.  Recently, Michelle was selected to serve as the co-chair of the APHA Student Assembly’s Diversity Committee.  Michelle enjoys participating in student different groups at UAB, and volunteers at Highlands United Methodist Church in Birmingham.  She is also an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life
