Our Graduate Periodontal Clinic is a state-of-the-art clinical facility with 4 surgical suites and 5 treatment rooms. We also have a dedicated front desk staff, 3 skilled dental assistants, and 1 experienced dental hygienist.  Digital x-ray facilities are in the operatories and a Panoramic facility is in near proximity to the clinic as is a CBCT machine.  Our Periodontal Research Clinic, located adjacent to the Graduate Periodontal Clinic, has 2 treatment rooms and 1 surgical suite.  UAB Dentistry is physically connected to both the University Hospital and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. This allows easy passage to these two facilities where important clinical activities of the advanced education program in Periodontology are undertaken.

The dental wing of the Veteran’s Administration Hospital is used extensively by students in advanced education programs.  An adequate staff of dental auxiliaries are employed to provide chairside and clerical assistance and well-qualified staff dentists and consultants are available.  There are 31 treatment areas available with at least 4 used for periodontal therapy and dental hygiene.

Other education, recreational, and research facilities of a major urban university and medical center are conveniently located and may be utilized by students in the advanced education programs.  The more pertinent of these include the Lister Hill Health Science Library, the Animal Service Facilities, the Bevill Biomedical Sciences, and the Shelby Biomedical Research Buildings.
