PASS Application

A centralized application service

As part of a national effort to make the application process less time consuming for the applicant, some postdoctoral programs University of Alabama School of Dentistry participate in the PASS (Postdoctoral Application Support Service) central application service sponsored by the American Association of Dental Schools. In order to meet our program deadlines, applications should be completed and submitted through PASS at least two (2) weeks prior to the program deadlines. PASS application materials can be obtained from PASS or from your dental school.

Direct Application

Should you not wish to participate in the PASS application process, you may apply directly to most of our postdoctoral programs by requesting an application from the address below. Completed applications must be in our office by the program deadlines, in the year preceding the year for which the applicant is applying. You do not have to fill out the University of Alabama School of Dentistry's postdoctoral application if you are participating in the PASS process. Generally, direct application is only of benefit to those individuals applying only to our postdoctoral programs or to programs not participating in the PASS program.

National Matching Program

Some of our postdoctoral programs participate in the National Matching Program. Administration of the Matching Program, including the performance of the match, is carried out by National Matching Services, as an independent contractor. International Dental Graduates

Information for foreign applicants
Most postdoctoral dental programs at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry consider the applications of international dental graduates. (See individual program information). Please be aware, however, that the competition for the few available positions is great. Also, it is a policy of our school to consider for admission only those international dental graduates who plan upon completion of their education to return to their home country in a public health or educational capacity.

Financial aid is not available! Documentary evidence of the applicant's ability to meet all expenses including tuition must be provided at the time of application.

All instruction of students and communication with patients is in the English language. Consequently, it imperative that the applicant provide evidence of proficiency in English in the form of a satisfactory (550) test score on a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) examination.

Also, it is a policy of our school to consider for admission only those international dental graduates who plan upon completion of their education to return to their home country in a public health or educational capacity.
